Candidates can exit KEA counselling from September 17 to 20; surrendered seats to be considered for Round 3
The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has opened a fresh window for candidates to exit the Karnataka National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) counselling 2026 process and cancel their allotted MBBS or BDS seats. Candidates can exercise the option from 4 pm on September 17 to 5 pm on September 20, 2026.

KEA said the window has been opened after some candidates who were allotted seats in both the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and KEA counselling requested cancellation of their KEA seats after the round 2 results were announced. Candidates who surrender their seats during this window will have their seats considered for the third round of seat allotment.
The Karnataka NEET UG final seat allotment results were published on September 16, 2026. A total of 8,772 MBBS seats and 2,466 BDS seats were allotted in Round 2.
Candidates who were not allotted seats through MCC but want to cancel their KEA-allotted medical or dental seats can also surrender their seats as per the rules mentioned in the information bulletin. Such candidates may participate in the third round of Karnataka medical and dental counselling, subject to the applicable conditions.
Karnataka NEET UG Counselling 2026: Cancellation penalty
KEA has specified different penalties depending on when a candidate cancels or surrenders the allotted seat.

Karnataka NEET UG round 2 allotment 2026
The Karantaka NEET UG round 2 final seat allotment has also recorded admissions in the MBBS and BDS courses. According to the figures provided by KEA, 8,772 MBBS seats and 2,466 BDS seats were allotted in Round 2.
In Round 1, 2,779 MBBS candidates had reported to their allotted colleges, while 223 BDS candidates had reported.

Candidates who decide to surrender their seats should check the applicable cancellation conditions carefully before exercising the option. The seats surrendered during the specified window will be included in the pool for the third round of counselling.
