NEW DELHI: Kerala Pareeksha Bhawan has declared the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Examination (NMMSE 2023-34) results for Class 8 students on the official website, nmmse.kerala.gov.in. Students who appeared for the examination can check their result by entering the roll number and date of birth. Students clearing the NMMS exam will be eligible for 1 lakh scholarships of the union education ministry.

Students had to appear for the two tests – mental ability test (MAT) and scholastic aptitude test (SAT). The students must pass the NMMS examination with an aggregate of SAT and MAT to be with a minimum of 40%. The qualifying marks for candidates from SC and ST categories is 32%.

The scheme was started by the union government to award scholarships to meritorious students belonging to economically weaker sections to arrest their drop rate at Class 8. The government awards 1 lakh fresh scholarships annually to selected students from Class 9. Students continue to receive scholarships in Classes 10 to 12 if they meet the criteria. Selected students have to study in state government, government-aided and local body schools. They receive an annual scholarship of Rs 12,000 per annum.

The government disburses the NMMS scholarship funds directly into the bank accounts of selected students by electronic transfer through the public financial management system (PFMS).
