NEW DELHI: All educational, training and coaching institutions in the country will remain closed till May 3, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced on April 15.

The educational institutions across the country have been closed since the lockdown was imposed on March 25.

The new directive is part of the revised guidelines to be followed in the country during the extended lockdown period from April 15 till May 3, imposed for containing the spread of coronavirus and COVID-19, the infection caused by it. The guidelines allow certain sectors to open up after April 20 provided there are no fresh cases in these areas but education is not one of them.

Many educational institutions, including schools and colleges, are attempting to use digital platforms so that the education of students does not suffer because of the lockdown.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made text books available online so that the students can continue with their studies.

All board examinations and entrance tests have been postponed till the lockdown is lifted.

The authorities have also granted automatic promotion to students from Class 1 to 9 and Class 11.
