NEW DELHI, DECEMBER 6: Macquarie University, one of Australia’s top 10 Universities, has launched an online Global MBA programme that addresses the growing conversation about the future of work.

The future of work (FoW) has significant implications for the global workforce with continuous technological disruptions changing the nature of work. FoW impacts hiring practices as organisations look for future-focused capabilities such as adaptability through evolving data literacy and an algorithmic language. FoW also has a direct impact on professional development and has changed education from a front-loaded model to that of continuous learning.

Universities are having to respond to the changing needs of the labour market by providing learning options that address disaggregated learner needs i.e. different shapes and sizes of learning – MOOCS, short courses, digital badges and award qualifications. Macquarie Graduate School of Management Global MBA is leading the way in this emerging trend with the introduction of this new digital MBA – a Global MBA which has been designed around developing future-focused capabilities. Its stackable model is learner-centric as it offers learners with the choice to study as much or as little as they want.

Macquarie Graduate School of Management has partnered with leading organisations - MedTech International, Russell Reynolds, and Mums & Co. to create course material that offer experiential learning for students. Having partnered with a global platform - Coursera - for the Global MBA – MGSM is now inviting applications from graduate students for the first session beginning May 2019.

This first-of-its-kind online MBA is designed to build six cross-disciplinary capabilities viz. leading, strategizing, analysing, influencing, adapting and problem-solving. The Global MBA curriculum is structured around these six key future-focused capabilities with discipline, knowledge and skills integrated into each capability. The program material touches on leveraging technology and talent that transforms existing ways of doing business as disruptive new technologies compel organisations to adapt and respond quickly. It offers proficiency in numeracy and financial literacy that sharpen analytical skills to synthesise and critically analyse information in producing strategic insights and proactively shaping the decision-making process.

This interdisciplinary course prepares students to be the workforce of the future. It will give students a range of skills necessary to work in in an age where AI is expected to automate half of the activities that people are paid to do in the global economy. Students get an excellent platform to learn and connect with a global community of learners looking to help each other achieve their personal and professional goals in wide ranging areas.

Speaking on the launch of the program, Dr Lan Snell, Academic Program Director, MGSM Global MBA said “Macquarie University is proud to lead discussions on the future of work. Macquarie University is committed to increasing bilateral relations between India and Australia as demonstrated by ongoing commitments to research and learning innovations. We are excited to launch the Global MBA programme for the first time in India. This programme will help make students future ready and accelerate their careers. We expect that the Global MBA will be an attractive option for students in India because of the flexibility of our learning platform combined with Coursera’s interface.”

Speaking on the launch of the program, Giovanni Dubois, Director, University Partnerships at Coursera said "Due to automation and technological advancements, the demands of the job industry are evolving more rapidly than ever before. Today, the industry has become so volatile that some skill sets which seemed essential until some time ago have become more or less irrelevant. Coursera is proud to be working with Macquarie University and other leading universities to redesign degrees to not only make degrees more accessible but to also be more relevant preparation for the future of work. We are thrilled to have launch the Global MBA with Macquarie University and one that we believe fulfills an unmet need in the MBA market today.”

Macquarie University’s Global MBA program is a stackable program (1 year – 3 year depending on the specialization distribution yearly) with opportunities for learners to learn as much or little as they want. Students can apply to the course through the website and last date of submission of the application is April 08, 2019 for May intake and August 5, 2019 for September, 2019.
