Chennai Rains: Schools and colleges in Tiruvallur district have been closed today. The weather department predicted rainfall in the region up to December 3.

NEW DELHI: Madras University has postponed the exam scheduled due to Chennai rains, as per reports. The Institute of Distance Education has announced that it will conduct the second year and third semester exams for the MCA programme in the month of December.
“The MCA practical Examination [30.11.2023] has been postponed. The rescheduled Examination date will be intimated in due course,” the official website read.
The India Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain warning for today. In this regard, the Tiruvallur collector has directed all schools and colleges to remain closed today.
“Chief Minister M K Stalin directed ministers, legislators and representatives of local bodies to provide all necessary support to the people in rain affected areas. A Meteorological department official said Chennai and nearby regions in northern coastal Tamil Nadu experienced heavy rainfall on Wednesday, which was in the range of 5 cm-6 cm and even above in some areas,” the PTI reported.
The weather department has predicted heavy rainfall at many places in Tamil Nadu and neighbouring Puducherry up to December 3.
The Madras University has scheduled to conduct the practical exams from December 23 to January 11, 2024.
“Attendance is compulsory for practical classes and practical examinations. At the end of this programme practical examination will be conducted. Students are requested to bring their practical books, pens, pencils, A4 for practical classes,” the exam guidelines read.
