The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has postponed the 41st Maharashtra State Level Eligibility Test (MH SET) 2026 examination to October 25. This is the third time that the MH SET exam is being postponed.
According to the official notification, the MH SET 2026 exam was scheduled to be held on July 26, before being postponed to September 6 and then to September 27.
“MH SET 2026 examination for recruitment of assistant professors conducted by SPPU has been delayed multiple times with the latest circular issued today. With the original date of the exam from 26th July to 6th Sept to 27th Sept and now 25th October there is no certainty of the examination being conducted,” according to a notice.
Meanwhile, the university said that the MH SET 2026 postponement was necessary due to the schedule of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and other competitive examinations.

It also cited practical difficulties for candidates during travelling to examination centres due to “Anant Chaturdashi”, falling on September 21. The decision was also made after receiving representations from candidates regarding the examination date.
The MH SET 2026 examination for recruitment of assistant professors was first announced for July 26. The university later notified that the exam was re-scheduled on September 6. However, after receiving concerns from candidates over the coinciding exam date with the Central Eligibility Test (CTET), it was again scheduled for September 6.
Therefore, as per the latest notification, the MH SET 2026 exam will now be held on October 25, 2026 and the new exam date applies to all candidates, examination officers, and agencies involved in conducting the examination.
The MH SET will be held to assess the candidates for the appointment as assistant professors in universities and colleges in Maharashtra and Goa.
