NEW DELHI, APRIL 3: Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar today released NIRF ranking 2018 for institutions across different categories including universities, management institutes, medical colleges, law colleges, and pharma colleges.
The Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru made it to the top in the Overall category yet again. IISc is followed by IIT Madras, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi and IIT Kharagpur in second, third, fourth and fifth rank respectively. Jawaharlal Nehru University and Banaras Hindu University are placed at rank 6 and 9 respectively in the overall ranking for 2018.
Though in the University Category, JNU finds second spot after IISc which dominates the ranking for universities.

The list of management institution is led by Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad followed by IIM Bangalore and IIM Calcutta at number 2 and 3 respectively. XLRI Jamshedpur (Rank 10) is the only private management college to secure a place in top 10 management institutes in the country.

Among Law colleges which were separately ranked for the first time under NIRF, National Law University Bengaluru sits on the top followed by National Law University Delhi. NALSAR Hyderabad is at the third spot. Symbiosis Law School (Rank 9) and Dr B R Ambedkar College of Law are the two private institutes among top 10 law colleges. Interestingly, only 10 law institutes are listed in the ranking released for law colleges.

The list of Medical colleges is led by AIIMS Delhi followed by PGIMER Chandigarh.
Miranda House, Delhi has emerged as the top college followed by St Stephens College, Delhi.
The government launched the Ranking framework in 2015 and the first ranking was released in 2016. The NIRF outlines a methodology to rank institutions across the country.The key parameters for the ranking include Teaching-Learning & Resources, Research and Professional Practice, Graduation Outcome, Outreach Inclusivity, and Perception.
