Maharashtra sets up committee weighing Class 12 marks for BTech, BPharm admissions

Try NowFollowing a proposal from the State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell, the Maharashtra government has formed a committee for considering Class 12 board exam marks in the merit list preparation for engineering and pharmacy admissions. The committee will have to submit a detailed report with recommendations to the state government within 15 days.

The committee has been formed for determining and assigning appropriate weightage to performance in the Class 12 exam and the MHT CET exam relevant for admission to degree courses.
Furthermore, the committee will also recommend when this proposal can be implemented, taking into consideration the announcement of the merit list based on the proportion of Class 12 marks and the CET percentile score, while ensuring candidates have sufficient time to prepare for both the exams.
Notably, the panel will also determine the exact ratio between Class 12 marks and MHT CET percentile scores for preparing the CET Cell’s merit list, ensuring that the process is transparent and fair for all candidates.

To determine the policy for preparing the merit list for BTech and BPharm admission by considering both the MHT CET percentile and Class 12 percentage of marks, the expert committee has been constituted. The list of five members and their designations is shown in the table below.

MHT CET is a state-level entrance exam conducted for admission to undergraduate professional courses like engineering, pharmacy, and agriculture in colleges across Maharashtra.
Additionally, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has also announced the Maharashtra board exam dates 2027 for both HSC and SSC students. Maharashtra Class 12th board exam 2027 will be held from February 8 to March 16, and 10th board exams are scheduled to be conducted from February 15 to March 11.
