Maharashtra engineering admissions 2026 see 74.99% seat intake after four CAP rounds, with computer engineering recording the highest admissions.

Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has successfully conducted the four rounds of Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for engineering courses for the academic year 2026-27. As many as 1,52,452 students have secured admission to engineering courses after four rounds, according to the data. The figure accounts for 74.99% of the 2,03,293 seats available through the CAP.
Among the 111 engineering branches, Computer Engineering recorded the highest number of admissions offered through the MHT CET counselling 2026 process, with 23,230 students taking admission. As per the MHT CET counselling 2026 schedule, the CET Cell is currently conducting institutional and management quota admissions, which will continue until September 14, 2026.
Online registration for Maharashtra engineering admissions began on July 2, 2026, and closed on July 19. A total of 2,45,646 students registered for engineering admissions this year.
Across Maharashtra, 380 engineering colleges affiliated with 17 public universities offer 111 engineering branches. There are 2,18,976 engineering seats available, including management quota seats. Of these, 2,03,293 seats were available through the CAP rounds.
After round 4, a total of 1,52,452 students have taken admission in engineering colleges across the state.
The MHT CET Cell has reported 50,841 seats remaining from the CAP process for the institutional round. Another 15,683 seats are available under the management quota.
Among the courses, computer engineering emerged as the most preferred engineering branch after four CAP rounds, with 23,230 admissions, followed by mechanical engineering and electronics and telecommunications.

Among the 17 public universities covered under the CET Cell’s engineering admission process, colleges affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University recorded the highest number of admissions. A total of 53,973 students took admission to engineering colleges under the university.

The Pune region recorded the highest number of engineering admissions in Maharashtra, led by Pune district with 41,122 admissions, followed by Kolhapur with 9,669, Solapur with 5,622, Sangli with 3,968 and Satara with 3,027. The Nagpur region also reported a significant number of admissions, with Nagpur district accounting for 15,487 students, while Nashik recorded 10,570 admissions.
Among the Mumbai-region districts, Mumbai Suburban had 9,012 admissions, followed by Thane with 8,654 and Raigad with 4,380. In the Aurangabad region, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar recorded the highest admissions at 5,767, while Amravati district led the Amravati region with 4,074 admissions.
