NEW DELHI: The National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) under the leadership of the ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship (MSDE) have collaborated with the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) to implement Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Abhiyaan (PMJANMAN) scheme.

The PMJANMAN scheme will equip the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) households and habitations with basic facilities such as safe housing, clean drinking water and sanitation, improved access to education, health and nutrition, road and telecom connectivity, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

The ministry has outlayed a budget of Rs 24,104 crore and an amount of Rs 15,000 crore will be made available to implement the scheme in the next three years under the Development Action Plan for the Scheduled Tribes (DAPST).

As per the agreement, TRIFED will assist collaboration with State Implementation Agencies (SIAs) for community mobilisation to form Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVK), offer tools and equipment, map VDVKs based on the list of PVTG habitations, and share expertise on potential economic activities for building sustainable VDVKs.

On the other hand, NIESBUD will mobilise people to establish unified groups, evaluate each VDVK's training needs, create training modules based on those needs, and deliver training through designated training facilities or mentorship organisations.

Speaking on the occasion, MSDE secretary Atul Kumar Tiwari said: “The arts, crafts, and culture of tribal communities have long been revered, but the PMJANMAN programme will elevate them to the forefront, allowing everyone to enjoy and participate in them. Within this environment, the scheme's idea is unique and incomparable. I express gratitude towards MSDE for its vital role in actualizing this vision.”
