NEW DELHI: The University of Mumbai was awarded A ++ status by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a score of 3.65 on Tuesday.
Maharashtra minister of higher education and technical education Uday Samant, in a tweet, said, “Congratulations from the Government of Maharashtra to the Vice Chancellor, Professors, Officers, Staff, Senate Members, Management Council Members, Students and all concerned of the University of Mumbai for getting A ++ rating with 3.65 marks by the National Assessment and Rating Council (NAAC).”

Mumbai University also informed about the NAAC accreditation through its official Twitter handle.

The University was accorded 5 star status in 2001 and ‘A’ grade status in April 2012 by NAAC. However, Mumbai University’s NAAC rating expired four years ago. The accreditation status is valid for a period of five/ seven years as per the certificate issued by NAAC to a university.
NAAC is developed to assess and grade institutions of higher education accreditation and is mandatory for applying for funds from Central agencies.
The assessment procedure is based on a set of seven criteria - circular aspects, teaching-learning and evaluation, research, innovation and extension, infrastructure and learning resources, student support and progression, governance, leadership and management and institutional values and best practices.
On August 30, Mumbai Univerity released the MU third merit list 2021. Mumbai University offers admissions to various undergraduate programmes such as BCom, BAF, BMS, BSc IT, BSc Computer Science, BA, BBI and BSc Biotechnology.
