: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to announce the exam date for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET 2022 by next week, says PTI reports. More than 16 lakh medical students register for NEET-UG every year. Along with the announcement of the exam date, NEET 2022 registration is also expected to start soon at nta.ac.in.

As per the senior official, the Medical Advisory Council of the National Medical Commission (NMC) had a meeting with the National Testing Agency (NTA) last week. The schedule of the NEET exam is likely to be announced sometime next week.
Candidates planning to appear in NEET 2022 must be aware of the eligibility criteria which include nationality, age, and qualification, Aspirants are advised to read further to know more details.
NEET 2022: Who can apply for the medical exam?
Given below are the eligibility guidelines that candidates must fulfil in order to appear for the exam. The detailed NEET 2022 eligibility criteria will also be mentioned in the information brochure when released.
NEET 2022 - Eligibility for Nationality

Indian nationals, non-resident Indians (NRIs), an overseas citizen of India (OCIs), persons of Indian origin (PIOs) and foreign nationals aspirants are eligible to apply.
NEET 2022 - Eligibility for Academic Qualifications

Students who have passed Class 12 or equivalent with physics, chemistry, biology/ biotechnology and English as core subjects from a recognized board will be eligible to sit for the medical entrance exam.

Class 12 or equivalent appearing aspirants are also eligible to apply for NEET 2022.
NEET 2022 - Eligibility for Age

Candidates must have completed 17 years as on December 31, 2022

The decision on the upper age limit for NEET 2022 is pending, therefore, general category candidates of 25 years or above are provisionally eligible to apply for the medical entrance exam.
NEET 2022 - Minimum Qualifying Percentile Eligibility

NEET eligibility marks in Class 12 are considered aggregate marks only for physics, chemistry, biology (PCB) subjects. To appear for NEET 2022, candidates belonging to the general category should have secured 50%, for OBC candidates, the minimum percentage is 40% and for PwD, it is 45%.
NEET 2022 - Eligibility for NRI/Foreign Students
There is no restriction on the number of attempts for NEET 2022. Candidates can appear as many times as they would like to only if they fulfil the NEET 2022 eligibility criteria set by the NTA.
Through NEET 2022 scores, admission to 90,825 medical, 27,498 dental, 52,720 AYUSH and 487 BSc nursing seats are granted.
