NEW DELHI: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has begun the special round for 146 new All India Quota (AIQ) seats in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) PG 2021 counselling. All state quota or AIQ quota candidates can apply for fresh registration on the official website - mcc.nic.in till 11:55pm of April 2.

“It is for information of all candidates and colleges participating in NEEEt PG counselling 2021 that in compliance to the order of Supreme Court of India dated March 31, a special counselling round will be conducted for 146 PG seats which were added in the mop up round of PG counseling 2021,” read the official notice of MCC.

Students who have joined NEET PG 2021 counselling round 2 either of the state quota or AIQ can participate in the special round of counselling without forfeiture of their security deposit, it said.

The Supreme Court on March 31 cancelled the NEET PG 2021 Counselling mop-up round for AIQ seats, as per Live Law. The top court arrived at the decision to resolve the issues arising due to addition of 146 fresh seats to mop-up round which were not available in round 1 and 2 of counselling.

The bench of Justices DY Chandrachud, Surya Kant and Bela M Trivedi had directed MCC to conduct a special round of counselling for these 146 seats and allowed candidates who joined through AIQ quota or state quota to participate in the special round. The court has also asked the authorities to invite options from students within a day after issuing the fresh notification and complete the process within 3 days.
