NEET PG 2024 Live: Supreme Court hearing not today; MCC, state-wise counselling updates

Four rounds of NEET PG counselling are conducted every year -- first round, second round, mop-up round, and stray vacancy round. In case seats remain vacant or the NBEMS lowers NEET PG cut-off (like last year), the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) announces more rounds known as special. 

The Common Entrance Test (CET) cell has extended the last date to register for Maharashtra NEET PG counselling 2024 till October 6. The state counselling is being conducted for admission to 50% state quota seats in MD, MS programmes. The deadline for payment of registration fee is October 7 till 11:59 pm. The registration fee is Rs 3,000. 

Several NEET PG 2024 candidates filed a plea in the Supreme Court against the alleged irregularities in the exam and sought a direction to the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to release answer key, response sheets, and question papers. Students expressed concern over the transparency of the exam which was held in two shifts for the first time. 

The last date to apply online and pay fee for Karnataka NEET PG counselling 2024 for admission to postgraduate medical courses in government and private colleges is tomorrow, September 5. Those who qualified the National Eligibility Entrance Test - Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024 can register at cetonline.karnataka.gov.in. 

The Department of Medical Education (DME), Madhya Pradesh is in the process of conducting registrations for MP NEET PG counselling 2024. Eligible aspirants who qualified NEET PG 2024 exam can apply for PG medical admissions in state colleges at mpneet.gov.in. The department has also uploaded the user manual for profile creation as well as proforma and affidavits to be submitted by the candidates for MD, MS counselling.

Tagging Union health minister JP Nadda in a post on X, a NEET PG 2024 aspirant said, "Sir the NEET PG case filed by 19 students has put all qualified aspirants in great distress as counselling is being deferred endlessly, case is being postponed every week. Please ensure counselling starts soon. Pattern of exam and percentile usage was declared before exams itself."

The schedule for the third round of UP NEET UG counselling 2024 has been announced. The registration and uploading of documents will commence from October 7. Eligible aspirants will be able to apply for admissions to MBBS, BDS programmes at upneet.gov.in by October 7. 

The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi has implemented a one-year mandatory service bond for medical students graduating from both All India Quota and State Quota undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. This decision has faced criticism from doctors and medical associations.

Candidates will have the following options after MCC NEET PG 2024 seat allotment. 

Option 1: Automatic seat cancellation
If a candidate fails to report to the allocated institute within the specified period during Round 1 of NEET PG counselling 2024, their seat is automatically canceled—referred to as 'free exit.'

Option 2: Seat acceptance
Candidates who are content with their Round 1 allotment must report to the assigned college within the allotted time to confirm their seat.

Option 3: Upgradation option
Dissatisfied candidates may apply for seat upgradation in Round 2. If no upgrade occurs, their initial seat remains secured.

The NEET PG 2024 petition has been filed by Ishika Jain, Kiran Kumar Patil, Tanmoy Deshmukh, and 16 other candidates under diary number 41088/2024. Filed by 19 NEET-PG aspirants, the petition raises concerns about the normalization process, lack of transparency, discrepancies in results.

According to sources, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, who was expected to oversee the NEET PG 2024 Supreme Court case, is unavailable on October 4. As a result, none of the cases on his bench, including the NEET PG 2024 case, have been listed for hearing today. The case is now tentatively expected to be taken up after the Dussehra holiday.

On August 9, 2024, the Supreme Court rejected the plea to reschedule the NEET PG exam, stating that a last-minute postponement would impact 2 lakh candidates and 4 lakh parents.

The latest update on the NEET PG 2024 counselling from the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) indicates that round 1 registration has commenced on September 20. 

The NEET PG 2024 petition urges the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to disclose the response sheets, raw scores, pre-normalized marks, normalized scores, and answer keys for NEET PG 2024 exam.

• MBBS mark sheets of first, second and third professional examinations
• Provisional, degree certificate of MBBS
• Internship completion certificate
• Permanent, provisional registration certificate issued by MCI
• Class 10 marksheet and certificate
• Class 12 marksheet and certificate
• A valid photo-identity proof 
• Category certificate

According to sources, candidates intended to request a special mention of the NEET PG 2024 case for an urgent hearing, as the matter was not listed today, October 4.

The NEET PG 2024 exam duration was 3 hours 30 minutes. The NEET PG 2024 exam was conducted on August 11. 

NEET PG 2024 Supreme Court hearing is likely to resume after Dussehra.  

The NEET PG petition, filed by Ishika Jain along with 18 other candidates, was last heard by the Supreme Court on September 20. During the hearing, the court referred to the last-minute changes made in the exam pattern as "very unusual."

NEET PG syllabus mainly comprises three sections, pre clinical, para clinical, and clinical.

The Director General of Medical Education and Training (DGME) in Uttar Pradesh has debarred 81 candidates from participating in the UP NEET PG counselling 2024 for failing to join the seats allocated to them during the stray vacancy round last year.
