#FairNEETPG: Doctor groups again demand from NBEMS single shift or ‘proper explanation’

NEW DELHI: Aspirants and doctors’ associations have voiced strong opposition to the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences’ (NBEMS) decision to conduct NEET PG 2025 in two shifts, citing serious concerns over exam transparency and fairness. In addition to this, applicants have flagged technical glitches and confusions surrounding the NEET PG application form 2025.

On Wednesday, the NBEMS confirmed the NEET PG exam date 2025 and reiterated that the exam will be held in two shifts- a move opposed by aspirants and doctors’ groups alike. Disappointed with the announcement, Indian Medical Association (IMA), All India Doctors’, Federation Of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) among others have requested again to consider conducting the exam in a single shift.

The NEET PG result controversy stemmed from the last-minute changes introduced by the NBE last year, which included conducting exams in dual shifts, adopting normalisation method, and introducing time-bound sections. Additionally, NBE’s policy does not allow it to share the exam content as well as students’ answer key and question paper on public domain.

The lack of transparency in the exam raised several questions on the fairness of the exam and admission process. The reason why students and medicos are continuously fighting to reverse the decision of conducting exams in multiple shifts.

NEET PG 2025: ‘Dark chapter of medical days’

Stating that NEET PG in two shifts has “no rationale”, FAIMA demanded a proper explanation from the board. Dr Rohan Krishnan, FAIMA national chairman wrote on X: “Dark chapter of medical days are being witnessed by us. Worst part many players of our team, the so called big doctors, are just supporting this for name, fame, and money.”

He further urged the BJP-led government and health ministry to revise the NMC and NBEMS “as they are working in no sync with docs!!!”

National spokesperson of IMA JDN Dr Dhruv Chauhan posted on X: “I tried every possible way to stop the conduct of NEET PG in double shift. Despite communicating with the authorities , organisations in my touch and making digital protest making the issue hashtag trending nothing could be done.”

“It’s not our failure as doctors, but shows how much the Nation values Healthcare and Education. This is a combined failure of the government and weak medical bodies along with sitting officials. Anyway, let’s discuss other issues which actually matters to this country …..Education and healthcare can wait !!” he added.
