NEET PG 2026 City Slip: Candidates report test city mismatch, NBEMS issues clarification

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has clarified the NEET PG 2026 test-city allotment issue. This comes after several candidates and doctors’ associations reported discrepancies between the city mentioned in SMS and details displayed on the official portal. NEET PG live updates.

Following the schedule, NBEMS released NEET PG city slip on August 11, allowing candidates to check the city allotted for their August 30 examination. Soon after the city information was released, candidates reported that the test city mentioned in SMS from NBEMS did not match the city displayed on their application portal. In several cases, candidates said SMS showed cities located far from their correspondence state, while the portal showed a different, local or allotted city.

Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) flagged the issue on X tagging NBEMS official handle, stating that it had received multiple reports of mismatched test-city information. The association said the discrepancy was creating panic among aspirants who needed to make travel and accommodation arrangements.

Candidates also reported similar experiences. X user, claiming to be a candidate shared that NBEMS SMS mentioned Chennai, Tamil Nadu, while the candidate portal showed Gaya, Bihar. Another user claimed that his brother, based in Gujarat, received an SMS mentioning Manipur as his test city, while the official portal showed the correct location. The All FMGs Association (AFA) also alleged that some candidates from northern states were allotted centres in southern cities.

NBEMS cites technical issues

In its latest notice, NBEMS said that due to technical issues, incorrect test-city information was sent to some candidates through SMS. The board further said the correct details have now been communicated through SMS and email. Candidates can also check the same on the applicant portal.

NBEMS further advised candidates to rely only on the official information available on its website and applicant portal and to remain cautious of fake websites and misinformation.

While filling the form, candidates were allowed to select three preferred test states. NBEMS had also clarified that test-city allotment would not be based on a first-come, first-served basis and that cities could be allotted based on administrative, security, logistical or technical considerations. Examination centre details will be provided later through NEET PG 2026 admit card scheduled to be released on August 27.
