FAIMA seeks early Supreme Court hearing, resumption of NEET SS counselling

The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) doctors' association has urged the Centre to ensure an early hearing in the Supreme Court and resume the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Super Speciality (NEET SS) counselling without any further delay, saying thousands of qualified specialist doctors have remained unemployed for the past five months.

In a post on X, FAIMA said the matter is listed before the Supreme Court on July 28 at Item No. 56, making it uncertain whether the case will be taken up during the day's proceedings.

Highlighting the impact of the delay, the doctors' body said, "5 months of delay. Thousands of NEET-SS qualified specialist doctors remain without jobs, while patients continue to face a shortage of super-specialists."

The association appealed to Union health minister JP Nadda, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), and the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) to facilitate an early hearing of the case.

The association said in its X post, "FAIMA respectfully requests to make every possible effort for an expeditious hearing and ensure NEET-SS counselling resumes without further delay.”

The NEET SS counselling process has remained on hold amid legal proceedings, leaving qualified candidates awaiting admissions and appointments.
