NEET PG Round 3 Counselling 2024: Choice locking begins at 8 pm today; 99 seats newly added

NEW DELHI: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will start the choice locking facility for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test postgraduate (NEET PG 2024) round 3 counselling today at 8 pm. Candidates who are eligible for the PG medical admission as per the reduced NEET PG cut-off will have to fill their choice of courses and colleges in the order of preference on the official website, mcc.nic.in.

The NEET PG counselling 2024 schedule was revised after the ministry of health and family welfare (MoHFW) announced its decision to lower the NEET PG cut-off in an effort to minimise the number of vacant seats after the conclusion of counselling process. Following this decision, the MCC notified a revised schedule and allowed eligible candidates to register till today.

The NEET PG choice filling facility for round 3 counselling has already begun and the choice locking window will be opened at 8 pm today. Candidates will be able to fill choices and lock the preferences till 8 am on January 16. “Choices once locked cannot be modified and any request to MCC/DGHS regarding change/alteration of choices will not be entertained,” the MCC said.

NEET PG Counselling 2024: How to fill choices?

The MCC has notified a total of 24,314 seats for the NEET PG round 3 counselling 2024. Of which, 15,902 are virtual vacancies, 99 are newly added seats, and 8,313 are clear vacancies. Virtual vacancy in NEET PG refers to the allotted seats that are currently marked vacant due to candidates opting upgrade option. Clear vacancy is the seat which was not allotted in the previous round.

Candidates will be allowed to submit as many choices as they prefer. However, choices should be filled in the order of preference, as the allotment is done on the basis of choices submitted by the qualified candidate and as per seat availability. “It is advisable that the participating candidates fill-in the choices up to a total of 30-40 choices,” the MCC said.
