NEW DELHI: With the release of NEET 2020 result by the exam conducting authority NTA, on October 16 a series of queries erupted on social networking sites. The confusion was mainly on 'Why is Soyeb Aftab AIR 1 and not Akanksha Singh with same score?'. A significant number of people have been asking this and the answer to it is the tie-breaking criteria of NEET. This criteria decides the inter-se-merit in NEET when two or more candidates secure same marks. The deciding factor on why Soyeb Aftab ranked 1 and not Akanksha is their age. Since, NEET tie-breaker gives final preference to candidate who is older in age, which is Aftab in this case, thus, NEET 2020 topper position with AIR 1 was given to Soyeb Aftab of Odisha.
