Download EBookNEW DELHI: Sikar, a coaching hub in Rajasthan, has far surpassed its more famous counterpart, Kota, in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) this year. Data released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Saturday disclosed, for the first time, NEET result scores by city and exam centre, allowing for comparison between cities and even states.
Sikar, fast emerging as a NEET coaching hub , had 50 centres and the scores garnered by students who wrote the NEET from them are startling. For example, Tagore PG School had 356 students appearing for NEET UG 2024. Of them, five scored 700 and above; 45 scored over 650, implying that about 12.64% candidates scored well enough for admission in a public medical college. The national average would be 1.3%. This centre’s candidates achieved an average score that is almost 10 times the national average.
Not just that, of the 50 NEET exam centres in Sikar, 42 are among the top 57 nationwide, judged by the percentage of candidates to score over 650 – a healthy score for a government MBBS seat . An analysis of the data shows that 6.8% of government MBBS seats might go to examinees who wrote their test in Sikar.

In all, there are 30,204 students who scored 650 and above – 1.3% of the 23.22 lakh candidates nationwide. These candidates would have ranks in the top 30000 and a chance at seats in government medical colleges. Of this set, examinees from Sikar alone will claim 2,037 seats, or 6.8%.
While nationally, the chance of a candidate securing a government MBBS seat is 1.3%, in Sikar, their chance is 7.48% or 575% better.
