NEW DELHI: A day after the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET UG 2023) results were announced, several students have claimed discrepancies in the NEET results 2023. Terming it ‘NEET OMR fraud’, ‘NEET result scam’, students and parents have shared OMR sheets on social media platforms including Twitter and demanded the NTA to clarify.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) uploaded the OMR sheet along with the answer key at neet.nta.nic.in on June 4. The NEET UG results 2023 , however, was declared based on the final answer key after the subject experts reviewed the objections raised by candidates.
The NTA NEET UG results 2023 were announced on June 13 evening. Around 56% of aspirants who appeared in the exam had been declared qualified. However, students claimed that the total marks secured as per OMR sheet is much more than total marks given in the NEET result card.
One of the possible reasons for the discrepancies can be a change in several answers in the NEET final answer key. It is yet to be confirmed as medical aspirants are still awaiting the NEET final answer key 2023.
While the number of students posting on Twitter regarding OMR discrepancies increases, the NTA has not yet issued a clarification in this regard. It is noteworthy that this is not the first time such an error has occurred, the Supreme Court in 2021 had issued a notice to the NTA after 6 students alleged “rigging of OMR sheets”.
