NEW DELHI: The Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) in a letter to the Director General of Health Services informed that more than 1,000 seats remain vacant after the round 1 and 2 National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Super Specialty (NEET SS 2022) counselling. The doctors association requested the officials to hold a mop-up round to prevent seat wastage.

Despite the completion of NEET SS 2022 counselling, a significant number of seats remain vacant for super specialty courses. Lakhs of students appear for the NEET SS couselling every year. Augmenting the number of seats for super specialty is the need of the hour, FORDA said adding that the “wastage of seats is not acceptable and is a significant academic and healthcare loss”.

Requesting for a NEET SS mop-round, the resident doctors’ group said, “the seats which were not joined by the candidates to whom they were allotted, be also made a part of the mop-up round, thereby adding to the seat pool.” “A provision for the same may be initiated by your esteemed office to facilitate them to relinquish their seats in case they do not continue with it.”

The Medical Counselling Committee had declared the NEET SS round 2 counselling 2022 results on January 4 on the official website, mcc.nic.in. Shortlisted candidates were asked tor report to the allotted college from January 6 to 12, 2023.
