Around 22.79 lakh students appeared for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2026 on May 3 for admission to MBBS, BDS and AYUSH courses. As per the previous years trends, the difficulty level of the single largest medical entrance examination - NEET, is increasing every year. The NEET UG cut-offs is the primary parameter for getting admission to various government, private medical colleges, including the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER).
Only candidates who will qualify the NEET UG 2026 will be eligible to sit for the counselling session for admission to UG medical programmes.

According to various education experts, and coaching analysts, the expected NEET UG 2026 cut-offs for general category candidates will be between 720 to 138, while the cut-off to secure a seat in a premier government medical college is expected to climb above 620.
Notably, there will be two types of cut-offs for NEET exam 2026 - admission cut-offs, and qualifying cut-offs. The qualifying cut-offs is the minimum mark a candidate must obtain to pass the exam, while the qualifying cut-offs does not guarantee the admission of the candidate.
Moreover, the NEET admission cut-off is the last rank at which admission is granted to an applicant. Unlike the qualifying cutoff, the admission cutoff guarantees a seat to the candidate.
As shown in the table below, the highest NEET UG cut-offs was for MBBS, BDS admissions was in 2024 with 162 for unreserved category candidates.

The lowest cut-offs for NEET UG for general category was recorded in 2022 with only 117 scores.
