NEW DELHI: Around 23 lakh medical aspirants are awaiting the NEET Supreme Court judgment on retest and cancellation. Meanwhile, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has urged the medical colleges to enter the seat matrix at its official website, mcc.nic.in, for the NEET UG counselling 2024. Earlier, the Union government had notified the apex court in a fresh affidavit that the NEET UG counselling will begin in the third week of July.

Medical institutes participating for NEET UG counselling can upload the seat lists on the portal till July 20, the MCC said. India has a total of 1,08,940 MBBS seats, of which Tamil Nadu has the highest number of 5,275 MBBS seats in government medical colleges, followed by Maharashtra government medical colleges which offer 5,125, according to the data shared by the ministry of health.
"Institutes participating in UG Counselling 2024 are hereby informed that intramcc portal for contribution of UG seats is open now. Hence, institutes are requested to start entering their seats on the portal at the earliest so that the process of seats contribution can be completed timely," the notice issued said, as per the PTI report.
It further stated that the user ID or password for entering seats on the portal is the same as the previous years. "In case you have forgotten your password, you can use 'FORGOT PASSWORD' option and change your password," it read.

The Supreme Court has listed the NEET UG 2024 re-exam hearing on July 18. A bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice JB Pardiwala said on Monday that the fresh batch of pleas and the ones pending in the high courts be transferred to the apex court as they pertained to the same issue.
