Now that the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET UG) 2025 results have been declared, candidates must have started preparing for MBBS and BDS admissions. NEET UG result 2025 is available on the official website, neet.nta.nic.in. However, in case any aspirant’s NEET result 2025 has been withheld, it is necessary to understand the reasons, implications, and the steps that can be taken. NEET UG result 2025 (out) live updates

Last year, NTA reportedly withheld the NEET result of a candidate who scored 106 marks out of 720 over suspicion of unfair means during the exam at a Godhra centre, following which the student approached Gujarat High Court demanding publishing of results for taking admissions.

As per NTA rules, if a candidate is found to be indulging in malpractices, he or she will be booked under UFM case and their result will be cancelled. The aspirant will be debarred for three years and will be liable for criminal action.

Notably, the Madhya Pradesh HC has withheld the NEET results 2025 of 75 candidates, to be announced later, due to power outage at a centre. NTA has not yet announced the NEET UG result date 2025 for these students.

Why is your NEET result withheld?

The NTA withholds NEET results due to various reasons including the following:

  • Discrepancy in documents: Issues in the uploaded photograph, signature, or other details during application.
  • Verification issues: Candidates flagged for identity verification or multiple application submissions.
  • Biometric mismatch: Mismatch during biometric attendance or suspicion of impersonation.
  • Exam malpractice: Any suspicion or evidence of unfair means during the exam.

What should you do if your NEET result is withheld?

If you're among the students whose NEET result 2025 has been withheld, here’s what you can do:

If your issue is document-related (like ID mismatch or incomplete forms), keep your original documents, application form, and admit card ready. You may need to upload or send them for verification.

What's next?

Once the issue is resolved, and if the candidate is found eligible, the NTA will release the NEET scorecard separately. However, if the result is withheld due to serious concerns like cheating or impersonation, further investigation will be conducted.
