Newcastle University offers 1-year scholarships for women in South Asia

The scholarships are for five postgraduate programmes related to climate change.

NEW DELHI: In collaboration with the British Council, Newcastle University will offer seven fully-funded scholarships for women from six South Asian countries including India.

The scholarship is also open for trans-women and non-binary persons willing to pursue one of the five postgraduate programmes offered by the university in the field of climate change. These include MSc environmental engineering, MSc environmental consultancy, MSc hydrology and water management, MRes environmental geoscience, MSc renewable energy, enterprise and management.

“Each of these scholarships covers full tuition fees, monthly stipends, a return economy class ticket and other study-related costs such as IELTS exam fee, visa application, NHS surcharge and study materials,” an official statement said.

The one-year scholarship will be available from September 2021 and are a part of the British Council’s programme to support women in STEM courses. It aims to assist over 100 women from India and 19 other countries to obtain their advanced degree from a UK university. Eligible candidates can submit applications by March 26 2021.
