NIOS 36th Foundation Day tomorrow; Dharmendra Pradhan to launch new courses, self-learning materials

NIOS will showcase its 36-year journey of growth and achievements through an exhibition of its various academic programmes and self-learning materials on November 23.
The Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan will launch new courses and self-learning materials on the 36th Foundation Day of the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) on November 23.
During the NIOS foundation day, the institute will showcase its 36-year journey of growth and achievements through an exhibition of its various academic programmes and self-learning materials. The event will be organised at Kaushal Bhawan, New Delhi.
Dharmendra Pradhan will be the chief guest and Sanjay Kumar, secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy will attend the event as the guest of honour. Prachi Pandey, joint secretary of DSEL will be present as the distinguished guest, the institute said.
NIOS is one of the two national boards under the ministry of education providing school education through the open and distance learning (ODL) mode.
“For the past 36 years, NIOS has been a driving force in democratizing education, implementing a flexible and innovative learner-centric model that enables access for those beyond the reach of conventional schooling,” the institute said.
“As part of the celebrations, NIOS will showcase its 36-year journey of growth and achievements through an exhibition of its various academic programmes and Self Learning Materials,” it added.
Last year, during the 35th Foundation Day celebrations, NIOS introduced new self-learning material for its Natyakala programme and launched its ambitious ULLAS se NIOS initiative , aimed at providing basic education and certification to illiterate individuals aged 15 and above, and set a target of reaching five crore learners by 2027.
