NIRF Ranking 2023 For Research: IISc Bengaluru best; top 5 remain unchanged

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru has once again claimed the top position in National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF Ranking 2023) among research institutions in India. This is the third IISc Bengaluru has been at the top, holding that position since the research category was introduced in 2021. It is followed by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay and IIT Kharagpur.

The eighth edition of the NIRF rankings has 12 categories, including colleges, research, medicine, law and others. NIRF has introduced a new category, "agriculture and allied sectors".

NIRF's rankings are published annually. In 2016, 3,500 colleges participated in the rankings. In 2023, it increased to 8,686 colleges.
