NEW DELHI: The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) in collaboration with the Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB), India, has launched a ‘Postgraduate Program in Financial Planning’ and a series of capacity-building initiatives for the securities market’s ecosystem.
As per the official notice, the agreement was signed between Krishan Mishra, the chief of FPSB India, and Sunil Kadam, the registrar of NISM. The programme claims to be in line with the Union Budget 2024’s focus on skilling and employability and aims to pave the way for enhanced career opportunities for finance professionals in India.
The PG programme is designed to equip financial sector professionals with the knowledge and skills required in the financial services industry.
“The PG programme will commence later this year and will offer comprehensive coursework covering essential aspects of financial planning, investment management, risk assessment, and retirement planning,” said the official statement
“The programme is designed to meet the evolving needs of the financial industry and to prepare graduates for successful careers as certified financial planners,” the statement added.
Krishan Mishra, chief of FPSB India, said: “We are thrilled to partner with NISM to offer a comprehensive Postgraduate Program in Financial Planning and initiate joint Capacity Building initiatives”.
Sashi Krishnan, the director of NISM, said: “This program is another major step towards the purpose to develop NISM as a premier institution recognised globally, for capacity building in the securities market ecosystem with the objective of enhancing quality, compliance, efficiency and effectiveness of participants in the market. This would be achieved through skill development, professional training, and certification.”
FPSB, India is a financial planning body and is home to over 2,731 certified professionals in India and more than 2,23,770 worldwide.
The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India.
