NIT Rourkela placement 2021: 3 students bag highest salary package of Rs 45 lakh
While three students got annual pay packages of Rs 45 lakh each, nine students got job offers of Rs 43 lakh each in NIT Rourkela placement 2021.

NEW DELHI: National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela has set a record in the online placement drive for the academic year 2021-22 by receiving the highest annual salary package offers. Three students bagged Rs 45 lakh salary package each, whereas nine students got offers of Rs 43 lakh per annum each.
The 256 companies that participated in the placement drive were from the diverse sectors like software, manufacturing, electronics, finance, education, petroleum, construction and public sector units like Gas Authority of India (GAIL), Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), etc.
“With 84 companies offering 253 students more than Rs 10 lakh per annum, the average CTC offered was about Rs 9.36 lakh per annum, an increase of over 4 per cent from the previous year,” a statement from NIT Rourkela said.
Another 211 students received internship offers from global giants like Microsoft, Barclays, Bajaj Auto, Citi Bank and Qualcomm with the highest stipend rising to Rs 1 lakh per month. So far, the Institute received more than 841 full-time offers, the statement further said.
NIT Rourkela placement drive
The IT and software sector has emerged as the top recruiter (41% of total recruitment) till date, the NIT Rourkela statement added.
Umesh C Pati, head of Training and Placement Centre, NIT Rourkela, said: “...keeping up with the new normal of virtual placement drive,...the centre worked very hard to adapt quickly and enable the students to be at their best for the process. We witnessed 101 new companies...Amazon Web Services (AWS), Barclays, Citi Bank, Siemens Gamesa, etc.”
The computer science and engineering departments got 187 jobs, the maximum among all other departments. Over 230 PG students have got job offers while UG students of the chemical engineering department attained 100% placements.
