NEW DELHI: The core committee of Student Bar Association of the National Law Institute University (NLIU), Bhopal, in an email to the vice-chancellor (VC), has opposed the ‘Young Thinker Event’. The association has claimed that the speakers in the event are using the platform for disseminating religious propaganda.
“The YTF event was initially proposed as an 'academic event'. It appears that the event has deviated from its academic focus and is now being used as a platform for the dissemination of religious propaganda. This unfortunate turn of events has not only surprised but deeply disheartened us, as we take immense pride in the academic excellence and ethical values upheld by our institution,” the association said.
The association also added that the participants in the conclave are creating an “atmosphere of insecurity on our campus”. “The frequent chanting of religious slogans within the convention centre has caused distress among our fellow students. It is disheartening to see our university being used for purposes that are far removed from its primary objective of education,” the letter added.
The association has asked the university administration to take appropriate necessary action against the event for politicising our esteemed educational institution. The association claimed that they were informed that the event organisers are promoting books and publications that “derogate the religions of Islam and Christianity”. “This blatant targeting of religious minorities is deeply concerning and unacceptable,” the letter read.

Students and several people have also raised concern about the event on social media platforms. Pranjal Aggarwal, an NLIU Bhopal alumni, on X, formerly known as Twitter, said: “numerous students have reached out to alumni, requesting that the event be halted. Their concerns revolve around the fact that all the invited speakers are known for their literature and work that are hateful, discriminatory and essentially to spread BJPs anti minority stand.”
Regrettably, at my alma mater, the National Law Institute University in Bhopal, the administration is currently organizing the Young Thinker's Conclave, scheduled for today and tomorrow. The Student Bar Association (SBA) has raised objections to the event. It is worth noting that… pic.twitter.com/QTUwq6sZQM
