NMC drafts regulations for teacher eligibility qualifications 2024 for medical colleges

NEW DELHI: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has released the regulations for the Teacher's Eligibility Qualifications (TEQ) 2024 in medical institutions. NMC has also asked for feedback, objections, or suggestions, if any, within a specified period at DraftTEQregulation2024@nmc.org.in.

NMC will not accept any objections or suggestions received by any other means, that is physical or through another mode.

“The National Medical Commission proposes to make the regulations Teachers: Eligibility Qualifications in Medical Institutions Regulations, 2024. The draft Teachers Eligibility Qualifications in Medical Institutions Regulations, 2024 has been prepared and approved by the competent authority following due procedures and is hereby published for the information of all stakeholders likely to be collected thereby and notice is hereby given that the said draft Regulation shall be taken into consideration on or after the expiry of a period of seven (07) days from the date on which the copies of the Gazette of India containing these draft Regulation are made available to the public.” the official NMC notice added.

The Medical Council of India (MCI) has also made changes in the nomenclature (name of qualification) for various specialties. As per the notice, the faculty qualifying will be considered to become faculty.

Objectives of NMC for TEQ 2024

The objectives of NMC regulation are to appoint and promote multiple teaching specialties and impart graduate and postgraduate education in medical institutions according to the minimum requirements prescribed in the regulations to maintain a standard of teaching in medical institutions.

“A teacher may apply to the National Medical Commission through the concerned head of the Institution and University for determination of his eligibility for a teaching position in a medical college or institution in the case of ambiguity and controversy.” the official NMC statement added.

According to the official notice, NMC can make any addition, deletion, substitution, or any other amendments to the TEQ 2024 regulations as and when required.
