Medical colleges will have to send campus GPS coordinates to NMC by April 20, 2025, to enable attendance through the mobile app. The details should be signed and stamped by the dean or principal.
NEW DELHI: The National Medical Commission (NMC) will implement FACE-based Aadhaar authentication for attendance marking across all its medical colleges and institutions from May 1, 2025. The system is already in use in various government offices through the National Informatics Centre (NIC). This shift aims to enhance the attendance process, making it more efficient and user-friendly.
According to the official notice, the existing fingerprint-based Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) will be discontinued, and marking attendance will only be allowed through face biometric authentication, either via mobile app or wall-mounted devices.
To facilitate the shift, all medical colleges and institutions are required to share the GPS coordinates of locations within their campuses where attendance will be marked via the mobile app. This information should be submitted to the NMC by April 20, 2025, with the signature and stamp of the college's dean or principal.
The details should be sent to the email address support.aebas@nmc.org.in with the subject "Face AEBAS <College Full Name> <College City>." The contact details of the college's Nodal Officer should be included.
“Attendance can be marked within a 100-meter radius of a given GPS location in the college. College will have to share GPS locations (in the attached format, Annexure-I) of points where it wants the convenience of attendance marking via mobile App,” the official notice said.

App activation from April 24
Once these details are shared, faculty members will be required to install the FACE-based Aadhaar Authentication App on their mobile phones. The app is available for download on the Android Play Store and Apple App Store.
The app will be activated on April 24, 2025, and any issues faced by colleges must be reported to the technical team before April 30, 2025. From May 1, 2025, finger-based Aadhaar authentication on the NMC AEBAS system will be discontinued, and only Face biometric authentication will be allowed.
The deans or principals of all medical colleges and institutions are expected to take the necessary steps to ensure the installation of the application on the mobile phones of their faculty members.
