NMC adds 7,375 new medical seats in MBBS seat matrix 2025

NMC Seat Matrix 2025: 456 MBBS seats have been reduced. The total number of medical seats in India is now 1,24,825.

Enrol NowThe National Medical Commission has revised the MBBS seat matrix following the recent changes in renewal of existing seats and approval of new seats in medical seats across India for the academic year 2025-26. Now, over 7,000 new seats have been granted while 456 seats have been reduced from the NMC seat matrix 2025.
With the revision of the seat matrix, the number of MBBS seats in India has further increased to 1,24,825. A total of 7,375 seats have been sanctioned during AY 2025-26. More than 400 medical seats have been dropped as they could not be renewed.
Recently, NMC added 6,850 seats and let go of 1,056 seats following the pending court cases, additionally granted seats, newly approved colleges, reduced seats, and supernumerary seats.

Father Colombo Institute of Medical Sciences in Telangana’s Warangal has received a nod for 150 seats which were pending due to court matter. A new medical college, Autonomous State Medical College in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi has been approved with 50 MBBS seats.

Earlier, NMC warned colleges participating in the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET UG) counselling 2025 that any seat allotted to the candidate that does not match the MBBS seat matrix 2025 will be cancelled. The commission approved over 2,700 seats.
Initially, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) notified 1,15,900 seats in government, private, and deemed medical colleges in NEET UG 2025 seat matrix .
