NMC warns students against fake allotment letter signed in chairman's name

NEW DELHI: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a public notice warning students against a fake allotment letter allegedly signed by the NMC chairman being circulated. “It is brought to the public notice that the Commission does not offer admissions in any medical college or is involved at all with the allotment process hence once again advised all concerned not to fall into the trap of miscreants,” NMC said in an official notice.

“It is a fabrication intended to tarnish the image of National Medical Commission which in fact is mandated to supervise highest ethical standards in medical profession,” the Commission added.

NMC also shared the image of the fake letter named “Provisional Allottment Letter” which says “Dear Bhalravi Rajendra Shinde, following consideration of your registration number, we are pleased to inform you that you are not registered with our organisation.”

“We are very pleased to inform that you have been successfully selected for MBBS course based on your documentation provided for verification and your choice in campus - Terna Medical College, Nerul West, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra and you have been successfully done with your seat allotment payment of amount Rs 8 lakhs only,” the fake letter read. The fake letter has been signed by Suresh Chandra Sharma, chairman of NMC.

Earlier in April too, NMC warned students against another fake allotment letter signed in its name.

Meanwhile, NMC has advised Indian students not to enrol themselves in medical colleges in Pakistan. The public notice issued by the NMC came days after the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) through a joint advisory urged Indian students not to enrol themselves in any college or educational institution in Pakistan, failing which they will not be eligible to find a job or pursue higher education in this country.
