Nuh schools close on August 3 as over 800 security personnel deployed for Brajmandal Jalabhishek yatra

Gurugram: Nuh administration and police are on high alert ahead of the Brajmandal Jalabhishek Yatra scheduled August 3, with more than 800 personnel, along with special security companies, deployed to ensure the pilgrimage passes off peacefully, an official said on Friday. All government and private schools in Nuh district will remain closed on August 3, the official said.

According to an official statement, a joint meeting was held Thursday under chairmanship of Nuh Deputy Commissioner (DC) Akhil Pilani and Superintendent of Police (SP) Arpit Jain to ensure safe and orderly conduct of the Brajmandal Jalabhishek Yatra.

The meeting was attended by district administration and police officials, Yatra organisers, representatives of various social and religious organisations, and members of the district-level coordination committee.

Administration reviews yatra preparations

In the meeting, the DC said the procession would commence from the Nalhar Shiva Temple around noon and proceed via Badkali Chowk, Ferozepur Jhirka, and Badkali Chowk again, before reaching Singar village and Punhana. He directed Public Works Department, Public Health Engineering Department, Municipal Council, municipal committees, and block development and panchayat officers, to ensure timely arrangements for road repairs, cleanliness, drinking water, mobile toilets, parking, and other necessary facilities along the route.

"To maintain law and order, there will be a complete ban on the open sale of petrol and diesel, playing DJ music without permission, broadcasting inflammatory speeches or songs, using open microphones, and carrying any kind of firearms or sharp-edged weapons. "In the interest of the safety of devotees and students, schools will remain closed on August 3 and liquor and meat shops located along the procession route will also remain shut", the DC said.

Security measures intensified for pilgrimage

Nuh SP Arpit Jain said seven paramilitary companies, along with Haryana Police personnel, will be deployed to ensure security for the yatra. Round-the-clock surveillance will be maintained along the approximately 80-km-long route using drone teams, video cameras, and other modern technologies. More than 100 police personnel and private videographers will be stationed along the route to record every activity of the yatra, the officer said.

"Close monitoring is also being maintained on social media. Action is being taken in accordance with rules against those circulating misleading or inflammatory content. Several suspicious social media accounts have been shut down, and letters have been sent to police officials in concerned districts for necessary action," SP Jain said.

In 2023, at least two people were killed, while 15 persons including police personnel were injured, as two groups clashed during the Brajmandal Jalabhishek Yatra in Nuh. Last year, the yatra took place amid strict security measures, school closures, and temporary internet suspensions to maintain peace and communal harmony.
