NEW DELHI: The Odisha government will conduct a summative exam for Class 10 students following all the COVID-19 protocols. from January 5 said Samir Ranjan Das, school and mass education minister, reported the Times of India.

“These exam results will be used to assess the students in case the government cancels the final examinations due to unforeseen reasons,” Das told TOI.

Schools of Odisha were instructed to conduct the summative exams adhering to the guidelines provided by the Odisha Board of Secondary Education (BSE).

Class 10 board exams were cancelled in Odisha owing to the surge of Covid-19 cases in the state. Hence, the Odisha government revised the exam process and introduced summative exams for Class 9 and Class 10.

"The summative exams for Class 10 will be conducted in offline mode. Similar to the board exam procedure, students will attend exams in different centres. Protocols are in place to ensure that classes are conducted smoothly and precautionary measures are followed, so that there is no surge in Covid-19 infections," Das told TOI.

The exam question paper will include multiple-choice questions of 50 marks. OMR answer sheets will be provided for students to mark their answers. Students can expect questions from the first half of the syllabus. The exam will be evaluated by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha.

Recently, the Odisha government inducted more than 6000 secondary school teachers in a single go as part of the ongoing school transformation programme under the 5T initiative.
