Over 56 lakh school teachers to be trained in 2021-22: Edu Ministry

More than 36 lakh teachers were trained during COVID-19 affected 2020-21 under the NISHTHA programme, the ministry said
NEW DELHI: More than 56 lakh school teachers are to be trained under the central government’s NISHTHA programme in 2021-22, the ministry of education said. The ministry also said that over 36 lakh teachers were trained during 2020-21.
NISHTHA or the National Initiative for School Heads’ and Teachers’ Holistic Advancement is an integrated teacher training programme aimed at improving learning outcomes.
The ministry of education, in a statement, said: “During the year, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, more than 30 lakh elementary school teachers were trained digitally, covering the whole gamut of education. Taking this further, in 2021-22, training of 56 lakh school teachers will be enabled through NISHTHA.”
The ministry also said that training for foundational teachers and secondary teachers will begin from August 2021 and July 2021 respectively.
The current batch of NISHTHA training will be completed by April 2021, the ministry informed.
