Over 9.65 lakh Register for JEE Main 2019 January Session

NEW DELHI, OCTOBER 3- The registration for JEE Main 2019 January session has been concluded. According to the official reports, over 9.65 lakh engineering aspirants have registered for the first attempt of the entrance exam. JEE Main 2019 January session will be conducted between January 6-20, 2019. Though these dates are coinciding with the class XII board practical exams, still over 9.65 lakh student registered for the first attempt. However, if we look at the last year figures, the current registration figure is 2.5 lakh less than that for JEE Main 2018. But if we look another way these JEE aspirants will get another chance to attempt JEE Main in April.

As per the reports, only 29% registered candidates are female candidates, while the number of SC aspirants is 9% which is even lower than ST category ones (3.7%). Moreover, there are 38 transgender aspirants who have registered for JEE Main 2019. The figures also indicate that maximum registration has come from the urban areas, number trolling to 54%.

From 2019, National Testing Agency (NTA) is responsible for conducting JEE Main twice a year (January and April). With JEE being conducted twice a year, various new changes have been introduced by the exam conducting authority. The entrance exam will be conducted in 264 cities in India in 9 cities abroad. Also, more than 3400 test practice centres (TPC) have been set up across the country where students can go to prepare.

Looking at the registration number for the first attempt, it could be sensed that engineering aspirants are appreciating the effort of the government. Not only this, it is expected that the number of registration may rise for the second attempt which will be conducted between April 6 to 20.

Conducted in computer-based mode only, JEE Main is the national level undergraduate engineering entrance exam held for the admission to various B.Tech/B.E. programmes offered by 31 NITs, 23 IIITs, and 23 CFTIs. Apart from this, JEE Main is also a qualifying test for JEE Advanced through which candidates can get admission to 23 IITs. Not only premier institute, states like Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Nagaland & other institutions as well use JEE Main ranks for admissions.

The entrance exam is held for 2 papers-Paper-I for B.Tech admissions and Paper-II for B.Arch admissions. From 2019, the entrance exam will be held in 8 different slots in multiple shifts. However, Paper-2 of JEE Main will be held in a single shift.
