PAU to offer certificate course on early childhood care

NEW DELHI: The Department of Human Development and Family Studies, College of Community Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), will be launching a certificate course on “Management of Early Childhood Care and Education Services” from academic year 2024-25.

According to Kiran Bains, Dean of the College of Community Science, the programme has been designed to meet the ever-evolving requirements of the times, providing students with the knowledge and skills essential for fostering the healthy development of young minds. It is an initiative that addresses the rising demand for skilled professionals who can handle the complexity of managing, administering and upgrading early childhood education services.

"The Department of Human Development and Family Studies believes that this Certificate course on Management of Early Childhood Care and Education Services is a significant step towards creating a brighter and more compassionate future for both students and society." she added.

Seema Sharma, head of the department, said that the course is designed to provide students with both theoretical and practical knowledge in developmental assessment of young children, management of differently-abled children, entrepreneurship in child care and education services; life skills; interaction, personality development, and value education.

Students will learn how to develop and execute strategic plans to ensure the successful and efficient operating of early childhood centres, as well as how to set up their own businesses such as a Nursery school, Day care Centre, after school care centre, and centre for differently abled children.

The course will also prepare students for positions such as teachers, administrators, and coordinators in early childhood care and education centres, as well as NGOs working on child development campaigns and projects.
