PM Narendra Modi inaugurates IIM Sambalpur’s permanent campus today

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the permanent campus of IIM Sambalpur today, February 3. The Union Minister of Education and Social Justice, Dharmendra Pradhan was also present for the IIM Sambalpur inauguration. The new permanent campus has been built at Basantpur.

According to an official statement on X (formerly known as twitter) from the Ministry of Education, the newly built IIM Sambalpur campus has state-of-the-art infrastructure such as auditoriums, libraries, sports zones, incubation centres, and hostels. All of them are intended to fulfil administrative, faculty, and academic standards while emphasising sustainability.

IIM Sambalpur had appointed NBCC to provide "Project Management Consultancy" services for this project. The NBCC will also maintain the complete infrastructural facilities for the following two years. According to Shri KP Mahadevaswamy, CMD of NBCC, the 200-acre IIM Sambalpur campus with 32 buildings and a built-up area of 64,000 sqm was completed by NBCC with sustainable and energy-efficient features on time and budget. Regional Sambalpuri art has been incorporated into the architecture of the campus buildings, with traditional lkat patterns etched into the brick exterior.

The official press release read "The 4-star GRIHA rated sustainable campus follows energy efficient and ecologically sensitive principles of development. Living spaces are 100% day lighted thereby lowering artificial lighting consumption. The treated water from STP is being used for irrigation and flushing. Rooftop photovoltaic solar power plant, solar water heating systems and solar street lights contribute towards lower power consumption. "

As per reports, the inauguration event of IIM Sambalpur's permanent campus was attended by around 4,000 people, including teaching and non-teaching staff members, students, and other guests.

IDE bootcamp at IIM Sambalpur campus

Recently, IIM Sambalpur hosted the 5-day "Innovation, Design, and Entrepreneurship (IDE) Bootcamp (Phase II)" at its campus. As many as 81 start-ups participated in the bootcamp from states such as Maharashtra, Odisha, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Kerala, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh. On the first day, the participants presented their ideas at the exhibition. On the fourth day, a local tour was organised for the participants to give them with real-world insights, networking opportunities, and creative inspiration. On the final day, student teams submitted their proposals to expert panels consisting up of company founders, incubators, lP specialists, angel investors, venture capitalists, and knowledge agencies.
