PM Modi promises stipend, health insurance upto Rs 5 lakh under PM CARES for children

NEW DELHI: Prime minister Narendra Modi has released the benefits under the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES) for Children Scheme today, May 30, 2022, through a video conferencing. Under the PM CARES for children scheme, scholarships will be provided to school-going students. According to PM Modi, students will receive Rs 4,000 per month under the PM CARES for Children and free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh under the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. Students will also get Rs 10 lakh when they turn 23.

Launched by Modi in 2021, the PM CARES for Children scheme aims to help and support children who lost their parents or guardian to the Covid-19 pandemic. The scheme seeks to make sure that such children get the care and protection. The aim of the PM CARES for children scheme is to empower such students by supporting them in education through scholarships and financial support. Under the scheme, a student will get up to Rs 10 lakh when he or she turns 23 years old. PM CARES for Children scheme also seeks to ensure the well-being of students through health insurance.

As part of the PM CARES for Children scheme, students were given a passbook and a health card under Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. To make avail of these benefits, these children need to be registered on the PM CARES for Children scheme portal at -- pmcaresforchildren.in. It is a single-window system portal that will help the children with the approval process and all also provide assistance.
