NEW DELHI: After the Center postponed the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test PG (NEET PG 2022), medical aspirants who are going to appear for NEET MDS 2022 on March 6 have now started demanding to postpone the exams. Several candidates have expressed their concerns on social media and alleged that they were “ignored”.

The All India Dental Students' Association said, “This is systemic injustice to NEET MDS aspirants and it has been ignored for too long. Radical change is needed to dramatically improve. We demand justice just the same as NEET PG aspirants.”

Hours before the Supreme Court hearing, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Friday announced the Centre’s decision to postpone NEET PG 2022. However, the top court will hear pleas regarding the NEET PG 2022 application deadline and completion of the internship on February 8. The NBE, later, released the NEET PG 2022 revised schedule. As per the latest notice, NEET PG 2022 exam will now be conducted on May 21. Candidates can now apply for the NEET PG 2022 exam till March 25, 2022, at nbe.edu.in.

A petition filed on January 25 by six MBBS graduates claimed that many MBBS graduates will not be able to take up the medical entrance examination due to non-completion of the mandatory internship period as the deadline for the internship is May 31, 2022.

The NEET MDS 2022 aspirants in a letter to the Dental Council of India said, “Last year NEET MDS took place in December 2020. Due to this MDS aspirants were made to sit at home for an entire year as counselling of MDS course has to be conducted. Aspirants joined their college in November 2021 after Diwali and so an entire year was wasted.”

“Due to the Covid-19 situation, the current intern batch (2016) started internship very late, due to the delaying of their final year BDS university exams in most of the estates. Now they are ineligible to appear in NEET MDS as per the criteria mentioned by the NBE,” it added. The letter further said that the 2500 interns will not be able to appear for the exam.

“Although MDS curriculum completely depends on clinical and surgical exposure. If the exam is conducted on scheduled time how will colleges accommodate two batches as already 1st year MDS PG’s batch have joined in November 2021," it said.

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Master of Dental Surgery (NEET MDS) 2022 application edit window was closed on February 1, 2022.
