NEW DELHI: The Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya decided to postpone NEET PG 2022 or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for postgraduate 2022, the Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) announced on social media.

Keeping in view the facts that NEET PG 2022 clashes with NEET PG 2021 counselling dates and many interns would not to able to participate in the exam by the month of may or june 2022, “the health and family minister has taken the decision to postpone NEET PG 2022 by 6-8 weeks or suitably,” a letter sent by the ministry to National Board of Examinations (NBE) said.

B Srinivas, Assistant Director General (Medical Education) and Member Secretary of the Medical Counselling Committee, in a communication sent to M Bajpai, executive director of NBE, said that a lot of representations were being received from medical doctors requesting to postpone the NEET-PG 2022 examination as it was clashing with the NEET PG 2021 counselling.


The NEET PG 2022 date was March 12 and the last date to join after the NEET PG Counselling stray round is March 16, 2022.

The matter to postpone NEET PG 2022 has been listed in the Supreme Court for hearing today.

A petition was filed on January 25 by six MBBS graduates in the top court seeking deferment of NEET PG 2022 scheduled on March 12 for admissions in post graduate medical courses. The plea claimed that many MBBS graduates would not be able to take up the examination due to non-completion of mandatory internship period.

The petition sought a direction to the National Board of Examination (NBE) to postpone the scheduled exam until various requirements, including completion of mandatory internship period, set forth in the PG Regulations, are met by many aspirants.

The plea challenged the condition provided in the information bulletin which provides for a deadline of May 31, 2022 for completion of internship. The petition also sought an extension of the deadline of completion of internship from May 31.

Students demanded postponement of NEET PG 2022 as conducting exam four days before the NEET PG Counselling ends left students with a difficult choice.
