PSEB has made the entrepreneurship subject compulsory in 3,692 senior secondary schools across the state. Around 10,382 teachers and 231 master trainers have been trained through 104 training programmes.
Punjab Board Class 12 curriculum and textbooks are ready and around 5.60 lakh students are going to pursue entrepreneurship in the 2026-27 academic year, as per an official statement.
As part of the curriculum, students will form teams, develop business ideas, build prototypes, pitch for seed funding and launch their products or services in the market, he said. It will equip them to transform ideas into viable ventures, covering startup challenges, legal procedures, finance, budgeting and more, preparing Punjab's youth to be job providers and economic drivers of tomorrow, Bains was quoted as saying.
In August this year, the education minister introduced the entrepreneurship subject along with Manish Sisodia. Instead of written exams, the assessment will comprise self-assessment, peer-assessment and teacher or mentor evaluation. There will be 18 periods overall including three theory and 15 project-based.
