NKP Salve Medical College MBBS fee rises 59% after becoming private university; course cost over Rs 1 crore

Just a few weeks after the Maharashtra Cabinet approved the proposal for NKP Salve Medical College, Nagpur to become a private university, the medical college has increased its annual MBBS fee from Rs 15.63 lakh to Rs 21.75 lakh along with an annual 7.5% hike. Considering the total cost of the 4.5-year course, the fee has increased by around 59%.

The annual fee fixed by the Maharashtra fee regulating authority was Rs 15.63 lakh per annum, capping the total MBBS course cost at Rs 70.31 lakh. However, the newly-approved private university has announced an annual fee of Rs 21.75 lakh for MBBS admissions for the academic year 2026-27, an annual increase of 7.5%. This takes the total fee for the medical course around Rs 1.12 crore.

The NKP Salve Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, a constituent unit of Lata Mangeshkar University, has announced interim fee structure, listing tuition and development fees for state and All India quota at Rs 20.75 lakh per annum.

NKP Salve Medical College MBBS fee structure for state, AIQ admissions

Students seeking admission through state and All India quota at NKP Salve medical college should also have to pay Rs 50,000 as a refundable college caution money at the time of admission and Rs 1 lakh per annum as university fee.

Therefore, the total MBBS fees at the private university will be close to Rs 22.25 lakh annually for students under the state and All India quotas.

“The aforesaid Tuition & Development fees shall be increased by 7.50% for UG courses every year till the completion of the course,” the fee structure notification read.

In addition, the annual university fee shall be inclusive of examination fees, library fees and medical examination fees. No separate charges shall be levied for these components, except for applicable late fees and fines, it added.

Candidates admitted shall not be eligible for any scholarship or fee reimbursement scheme of the government.
