PSU Recruitment Through GATE 2025: GAIL, GRID India, NPCIL to accept scores; selection process

NEW DELHI: The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 scores play a role not only in admissions to MTech and PhD programmes but also in the recruitment of engineers for executive positions in various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). Over 50 PSUs, including prominent organizations like Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) are expected to conduct recruitment drives using GATE 2025 results.

The IIT Roorkee will conduct the GATE 2025 exam on February 1, 2, 15, and 16 for admission to master’s programmes offered by IITs and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore. The GATE 2025 exam will be held in two shifts each day. As per the GATE 2025 exam timings, forenoon session will be held from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm (IST) and afternoon shift from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. As per the official brochure, the GATE 2025 admit card will be issued on January 2. The GATE 2025 admit card will only be available for download on the official GATE 2025 website.

As per latest updates, GAIL (India) Limited, GRID-INDIA, and the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) have announced plans to recruit candidates based on specific GATE 2025 scores. Candidates can have a look at the details below.

1. GAIL (India) Limited: (100 + posts)

GAIL will use GATE 2025 scores for recruitment across the following disciplines:

• Chemical Engineering (CH)

• Computer Science (CS)

• Electrical Engineering (EE)

• Instrumentation Engineering (IN)

• Mechanical Engineering (ME)

2. GRID-INDIA (formerly known as Power System Operation Corporation Limited):

GRID-INDIA will recruit candidates through GATE 2025 specifically from:

• Electrical Engineering (EE)

3. NPCIL ( 200 posts)

NPCIL will be hiring through GATE 2025 based on these test papers:

• Civil Engineering (CE)

• Chemical Engineering (CH)

• Electronics & Communication Engineering (EC)

• Electrical Engineering (EE)

• Instrumentation Engineering (IN)

• Mechanical Engineering (ME)

PSU Recruitment Through GATE 2025: Selection Process

The selection process for PSU recruitment through GATE 2025 usually involves 3 stages. Candidates may find application forms for nearly all PSUs online and will require their GATE 2025 registration number for registration. While a nominal application fee is required for General category candidates, reserved category applicants are exempted from this fee.

Following the announcement of GATE 2025 results, candidates are shortlisted for further evaluations, which may include a written exam—though this is applicable only for certain PSUs. Candidates who pass this initial round are then invited for Group Discussions (GD) and Personal Interviews. Selection criteria vary among PSUs; for instance, BPCL primarily bases its recruitment on performance in GD and PI, while IOCL incorporates GATE scores along with GD and PI evaluations in their selection process.
