Punjab regularises 8,886 school teachers under SSA, RMSA scheme

NEW DELHI, OCTOBER 4: The Punjab cabinet has approved regularisation of 8,886 school teachers recruited under the central sponsored scheme, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA).

The Cabinet decision was taken after recommendations of the cabinet sub-committee constituted to look into the shortage of teachers and other issues.

Reportedly, the state cabinet has decided to regularise 7,356 teachers recruited under the SSA and 1,194 teachers under the RMSA. Punjab cabinet has also approved induction of as many as 220 teachers for model schools and 116 for Adarsh schools.

As per the Cabinet decision these teachers will be initially on probation for three years, following which their services will be regularised, strictly as per rules. During the probation, teachers will be paid Rs 10,300 per month, on successful completion of probation government would pay them Rs 15,000.

The state cabinet has also decided that all future recruitments will be made as per the Government of India pay scale.
