QS World University Rankings By Subject 2023: 7 IIT Bombay programmes feature in top 100

IIT Bombay has been ranked four out of five broad subject areas. Overall, the institute has improved its 2022 performance by 18 places.

NEW DELHI: Seven academic programmes of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay have featured in the top 100 in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023. The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023 are released on Wednesday, March 22. The institute has been ranked four out of five broad subject areas. Overall, the institute has improved its 2022 performance by 18 places.

The seven IIT Bombay programmes which got top 100 places globally are art and design (51-100), 66th for computer science and information technology, 51-100 for civil and structural engineering, 77th for chemical engineering, 54th for electrical and electronics engineering, 68th for mechanical, aeronautical and manufacturing engineering, and 37 for minerals and mining.

Parameter-wise, in academic reputation, IIT Bombay’s best performance is in Mathematics, in which it has scored 78.6, an institute statement said. While in employer reputation, the institute’s best performance is in engineering – mineral and mining where it earned a score of 88.1 and in citations per paper, IIT Bombay’s best performance is in engineering – mineral and mining, earning a highest-score 88.8.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject identifies the world's strongest universities in 54 individual subject areas. IIT Bombay’s best performance is in Engineering -Mineral and Mining this year.
