Rajasthan to set up 3 new medical colleges: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot

NEW DELHI: The Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot has approved the proposal to set up three new medical colleges in the state. The three new medical colleges in Rajasthan will be established in Pratapgarh, Jalore and Rajsamand. Each college, the Rajasthan government said, will be constructed for Rs 250 crore.

Saying that the state government is working towards strengthening basic medical services and providing better medical facilities to the general public, a statement issued from the Chief Minister’s office added that Rs 75 crore will be spent to purchase necessary equipments, furnitures and books in these three new medical colleges.

“This decision of Gehlot will strengthen the health infrastructure in the state. Students will not have to go far to study medicine,” it added.

Also, the state government earlier had approved over Rs 90 crore to expand facilities at Rajasthan University of Health Sciences and the College of Dental Sciences. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot approved Rs 91.49 crore for various works and setting up of medical facilities.

Rs 15.55 crore had been earmarked for spending on building a hostel for 180 women students and Rs 13.39 crore for a hostel (studio apartments) for 70 residents of the College of Dental Sciences in Jaipur. Clinical area were also said to be developed at a cost of Rs 17.46 crore on the hospital building and Rs 8.54 crore on the academic building.
